About Erica

Erica Tung is an artist-maker and material researcher based in London. Her practice is driven by a curiosity about the properties and relationships between ceramic and glass. Fascinated by their similarities, she explores how their techniques intersect and complement one another.

Instead of applying glaze, Erica spends hours hand-sanding and polishing ceramic surfaces to achieve a sensually smooth, marble-like finish. This process reveals the hidden clay matrix and textures beneath the surface. Her works are made to be held and touched.

“My goal is to celebrate the inherent properties of ceramic and glass, and to explore their possibilities through the intersection of technique and materiality.”
